I'm Leighton, founder of Pray Her Forward, and I would love to share the heart behind this ministry—what I call this heart project!
Anxiety and depression. Lack of clear identity. Uncertainty about the future. Fear. Misunderstanding around dating and purity. Disbelief about prayer. Questions about God's Word—about truth.
This is a just short list of some of the real-life challenges that young women in middle school, high school and college are facing when recently polled. According to Gallup, Americans—particularly our young people—are leaving the church in droves since the turn of the century. Skepticism around the Church and Christianity is at an all-time high.
Now, more than ever, every Millennial and Gen-Z young woman needs guidance... She needs to be empowered... She needs wise counsel... She needs an encouraging mentor...
She needs someone who will Pray Her Forward.
I launched Pray Her Forward on March 13, 2024 after I was unexpectedly laid off and felt such a yearning to help young women! I have never considered myself a writer, but felt the Lord calling me to start writing! As I wrote, I felt as if the Holy Spirit gave me each and every word...
262-pages later, More Precious Than Pearls, my first biblical mentorship curriculum, was completed! This beautiful coil-bound, thoughtfully-crafted keepsake is filled with "Pearls of Wisdom", personal testimony, thought-provoking questions, Bible application, goal-setting and prayer-writing guidance on twelve of the most common issues young women are facing.
Before I began writing, I sent out a poll to find out the pain points of young women who I felt called to serve. My heart broke as I read through their many common struggles. I knew I only had the capacity to mentor so many women at a time, so I wanted to create a resource to make biblical mentorship (discipleship) less daunting for mentors.
More Precious Than Pearls can be used individually (with the Holy Spirit), in a small group with other mentees, or one-on-one with a mentor, leader, coach, mom, teacher, encourager, or disciple (anyone willing to listen and lead!) It officially launched on April 28, 2025 and is now available on our website along with our digital mentor/leader guide!
